Cassandra Newby-Alexander has offered a 100,000 grant to anyone who can faithfully recreate the story of the Underground railroad in a game.

“The underground Railroad was a much more complex issue that it’s been made out. When you push a person to a point where they have nothing to lose, that’s when you create a formidable enemy. Ultimately, human beings are going to be free.”

Some independant game devlopers have already taken that message of violence to heart and started work on games like Mecha-Lincoln vs. General GrantUnderground: Harriet Tubman’s Revenge and a portable game for Nintendo’s handheld system entitled Runaway Training: Learn to Escape in Minutes a Day!
